I have heard in writing circles that the first book most authors will get published is around their fourth or fifth because all the previous books were so bad. I feel like this book very much demonstrates that I am in that group.
This book was very much a foray into writing and thus the story goes all over the place. If you want a cohesive experience that approximates what you would find in a real book, you should read chapters 6, 7, and 8 in that order.
If you want a cohesive story but also don't want to miss out on character introductions and some exposition, you should read chapters 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8 in that order.
If you don't want to miss anything at all and consider yourself a patient reader, you can read all the chapters in order.
Note also that the length of the chapters is very much not consistent. Large chapters are broken up to achieve some consistency in length for the sake of reading experience.
